- What training or education is required for this type of work? Basically just knowing how to read and write so maybe just a high school diploma.
- What inspired you to choose your career? There weren’t any clothing stores in town, we used to be a little stand selling food so when we realized there wasn’t any store and my cousin sells clothing in New York me and to others decided to make our own store
- What is the most challenging part of your job? The most difficult thing about this job is probably having to keep up with what’s selling and what people want; customers can be a challenge too because some always want discounts or if they could get something for free they would.
- Do you work a lot of overtime? Yes, I work 10-12 hours a day, I haven’t had a day off in about 3 weeks
- How has your career affected your life? It’s affected my life a lot; I don’t have any personal time.
- Do you take work home? The only work I actually take home is paper work, like taxes.
- What qualities does a person need to possess to be in this type of position? Just need to know how to speak with people, read and write.
- What is the most rewarding part of your job? When a customer comes in and gets what they were looking for and they leave happy.
- How does the economy affect your job? The economy affects us a lot if it’s going good then we can higher prices and make more sales but, when it’s bad we usually have to cut prices by a quarter.
- What opportunities for advancement are there for this field? You never know you could be doing good and one day bad but, we have expanded, we’re opening more Shoe Farms in Porterville and Hayward, and we already have the one in Visalia.
